Snapped an action shot of a student going to class. Thought the stairs looked neat. I wanted to take the photo WITHOUT someone in it, but I was pressed for time, and this lady was obviously not. Brightly-colored umbrellas at the local public pool compliment the cool water to drive away the incredible humidity and heat we have had lately. During pool hours, it's packed; this photo was taken just after closing. It's supposed to rain today, and then start cooling off somewhat. I'm looking forward to that.

While the humidity has dropped somewhat in the past couple of days, it remains very hot here in Bloomington. I try to stay indoors until the temperature drops in the evenings. Interestingly, others seem to stay indoors completely; I was surprised to find this playground at Bryan Park totally empty on a beautiful evening.

This is my experimental attempt at taking star photos. I had seen those photos capturing the trails made by the moving stars, and so I wanted to try it myself. I think it turned out reasonably well. This exposure was about 20 minutes, if I remember correctly. Taken the same night as yesterday's sunset picture, and also near Lake Lemon.

Here are a couple of bikes chained to a tree on the square in downtown Bloomington. Lots of people who live close to town use bikes instead of cars. Parking downtown is not a lot of fun, and many are happy to avoid high gas prices and to help preserve our environment. Plus, bikes are a lot more fun than cars.

These are some trees right outside of the Herman B Wells (that's right, no punctuation after the B, his middle name was simply 'B'!) Library. The lighting made for a really pretty shot, eh?And now, we have a side shot of the actual library. As far as libraries go, it's pretty aesthetically pleasing in many areas. This statue is outside the Monroe County courthouse on the square at the heart of downtown Bloomington. I believe it's part of a set of several statues that commemorate the war of 1812. Unlike the other statues in the set, which are closer to the street, this one is tucked away near the building itself. The day was overcast, and the white light yielded a photo that seems almost black and white.

This is a house on Sheridan Avenue before it merges into 1st Street. It's one of my favorite houses, and a bit off to the right they have a really neat guest house on top of their garage. I took this photo from the Herald Times website... I actually saw this wreck happen... but didn't have a camera on hand. The roads were very slick and the truck lost control... Fortunately, no one on the bus was hurt! (Nor was the driver!)With finals over and a whole summer ahead of me, I'll make sure to post daily... sorry about the lack of updates!

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I had some major computer problems these past few days... :(This week is the beginning of Little 500 week... a bicycle race featured in the film "Breaking Away" which was also filmed here. It's a big deal, and many teachers even cancel classes this week. It's basically a week filled with bikes and partying... and general craziness.This is my friend Jamie... Joe

This is a house a few blocks away from Indiana University. This is the older part of town, and this is one of my favorite little houses. The whole yard has really nice landscaping, but the bushes that curve up the hill along with the stairs are my favorite part! If you own this house and happen to stumble upon this site... Sometimes I like photographing wildlife out of my window before I leave for class.... It was a pretty day and I caught this bird JUST as it was taking off. I thought it was a neat shot. Robins are so common here. One of my favorite types of bird, the cardinal, is somewhat rare in the area despite being the Indiana state bird. However, there's a nest of them right outside of our office window,
